Prospective Students
Texas Wesleyan Law Fellowship

The Texas Wesleyan Law Fellowship is now accepting applications for our summer fellowship awards. The Texas Wesleyan Law Fellowship is a student run organization that awards fellowships to students working in public interest organizations each summer. Traditionally, these types of organizations do not pay summer interns or clerks, so we want to make it a little easier for those who want to do a public interest internship in lieu of a paid clerkship.

Because we have a limited amount of funds, we require all students who are interested in receiving a fellowship to apply and go through the selection process. We have the applications ready to be picked up. You can find the applications in the Texas Wesleyan Law Fellowship folder in the Student Lounge; or the Texas Wesleyan Law Fellowship square on the bulletin board in the Student Lounge, or by clicking the link in the upper right hand corner of this page. The applications are due no later than 5 pm March 9, 2007, in the slot in student services.

If you are still looking for public interest employers for this summer, there are two great places to look. One is during Public Interest Week, which is going to be held the week of February 26-28, and on February 28, many of those employers will be at the school looking for people to work this summer, so you will have the opportunity try to find a placement that day. Click here to search for approved local placements and statewide placements or you can download these documents in the upper right hand corner of the page. All of the employers at Public Interest week or listed in the links on this page are acceptable placements for those applying for a fellowship. Note: If you would like to work at the DA’s office and apply for a fellowship, only two placements at the DA’s office are acceptable; those are the Family Violence Unit and Crimes Against Children Unit. No other placements with district attorneys’ offices will be accepted.

We encourage everyone interested to apply. We awarded $34,000 in fellowships last year, and we expect to award even more than that this year. Also, come to Public Interest Week and learn more about the fellowship as well as work in public interest.

If you have any questions, contact Anna Hernandez. She will be your only contact during the selection process and can answer all of your questions about the selection process.

Good Luck!
