Announcement from Dean Frederic White:
We have had a number of inquires concerning whether law school final examinations will be cancelled or postponed during this period of emergency. The law school has no current plans to cancel final examinations. Further, at this time we expect our graduation ceremonies to go forward as planned. If the situation changes we will promptly alert you via e-mail and through the WEMS emergency notification system. To facilitate communication, please make sure your contact information is properly entered in the WEMS system, which can be accessed here, or on the main page of the law school web site.
Although we are not closing we are taking the following measures:
1. We ask you to continue to take the usual precautions that have been recommended by health care authorities (e.g., frequent hand washing, keeping your hands away from your nose and eyes, etc.).
2. During this period of uncertainty, if you can manage it, please try to study at home and only come to the law school for your final examinations.
3. Please be sure to disinfect your laptops thoroughly, including cords--giving special attention to keyboards—before bringing them into the law school building.
4. If you are feeling ill and exhibiting flu-like symptoms, or if you believe you have been exposed to the swine flu virus, please stay home. We are mindful that our current examination rescheduling procedures are fairly strict. We are willing, however, to relax these procedures in the proper circumstances. Please contact Dean Rainwater if you have questions about rescheduling an examination.
I realize these are stressful times and the law school is trying to do everything it possibly can to help get us through this situation. If you have any questions or comments, you may feel free to contact me directly. I can be reached at fwhite@law.txwes.edu. Thank you for your cooperation.
