In recognition of his outstanding work in introductory environmental law, 3L Ryan Miller was recently awarded the Buck J. Wynne Scholarship from the law school committee of the State Bar of Texas’ (SBOT) Natural Resources Law Section.
The scholarship is named in honor of former regional administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, Buck J. Wynne. The SBOT Natural Resources Law Section sponsors a scholarship that is available to the top-ranking student in the introductory environmental law course at each law school in Texas.
Miller earned the award for his research into the opportunities under Texas law for the feasible redevelopment of contaminated urban properties.
Associate Professor of Law Keith Hirokawa teaches environmental law at Texas Wesleyan.
"Ryan's insightful research exposes both the promise and limitations in brownfield redevelopment,” Hirokawa said. “His work shows his potential to make an insightful contribution to the practice of law."
Recipients are selected from students in an introductory course in environmental law who exhibit dedication and commitment to the subject by making the highest achievement among their classmates.
Hal Ray, committee liaison for the section, presented the check to Miller at the law school on Feb. 6.
