The Tarrant County Bar Association (TCBA) monthly newsletter, the
Bulletin, received several awards at the State Bar of Texas’ annual meeting luncheon in Houston on June 26, and three Texas Wesleyan University School of Law faculty members were recognized in association with the publication’s honors.
The Bulletin was awarded Best Overall Newsletter honors. Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Vickie Rainwater, who serves as editor of the publication, and Professor Roger Simon, who serves as a committee member, monitor and edit the articles in the monthly newsletter. Adjunct Professor Kay Elliot’s article “The Human Factor in Mediation” received the award for Best Human Interest Story.
The Bulletin is the bar association’s main avenue of contact with its members. It provides information on upcoming events and seminars, legal articles of interest, and updates on past activities. The award for Best Overall Newsletter was based on several factors, including quality of publication; quality of writing; originality in graphics and cover design; member contributions; interest to members; ease of locating information; and meeting the purpose of the publication. Content is provided by TCBA members and association staff members.
Additional honors the Bulletin received were Best News Article, (“Celebrating 15 Wonderful Years” by TCBA executive director Patricia Graham); Best Series of Articles, (substantive law series “Offering and Objecting” by the Honorable Bonnie Sudderth); and Best Series of Articles (general interest series “Lawyers on the Loose,” by Bill Berenson and Doug Williams).
