The team of 3L Anna Summersett, 3L Matthew Wright, and 3L Patrick Cannon competed in the Texas State Moot Court Competition in Houston, June 24-26. The event was hosted by the Texas Young Lawyers Association.
Finishing as semi-finalists, the team was ranked first going into the semi-finals. Wright received second place Best Oral Advocate Honors for his performance in the six preliminary rounds.
Interim Dean Cynthia Fountaine praised the team’s hard work and dedication and said the recognition for Wright’s oral advocacy performance was well-deserved.
“A strong performance in oral advocacy takes a lot of preparation and skill, and Matthew’s honor as best oral advocate is the result of his hard work and dedication,” Fountaine said. “The entire team gave a strong performance against many talented groups, including the team which went on to place first, and we are extremely proud of their efforts.”
The team was coached by Johannes Walker ’07 and Jennifer Ellis ’05.
