Real World Ready

Texas Wesleyan School of Law’s advocacy program provides students with real world oral advocacy experience through mock trial, moot court, ADR competition, and other lawyer skills training. Our focus is more than just competition, but more on making students `real-world’ ready following graduation:

"Being a member of Texas Wesleyan's national moot court teams was probably the most beneficial aspect of my time in law school.  Learning to analyze, research, write, and argue real-world legal issues gave me the ability to enter practice with the skills and confidence that are necessary to succeed."

“Mock trial provided me with the skills and confidence I needed to step into the courtroom and try a case straight out of law school.”
     Wes Wynne ’07

“Sitting in class, you learn the black letter law.  Mock trial allowed me to hone the tools essential to the actual practice of law and gain comfort and confidence in the courtroom, the lawyer’s field of play.”
    J.D. Milks ’07
2007 AAJ Regional Mock Trial Finalist
    Palmer & Manuel, L.L.P.

“Mock trial served as the most memorable highlight of my law school experience with the immeasurable skills and practical insight I gained from Prof. Cruz helping me transition from a mere student to a new prosecutor.”

“… [M]oot court competition … helped me overcome a fear of public speaking and practice my writing skills … (both) invaluable to my family law practice, where no court hearing can ever be as grueling as a national-level moot court competition.”
