Professor Susan Phillips began her career at Texas Wesleyan University School of Law in 1992 as a law librarian after serving as reference librarian at Pepperdine University School of Law. Professor Phillips joined the Texas Wesleyan University School of Law faculty in February 2000 as the Director of the Law Library and Professor of Law. In June 2001, she was promoted to Associate Dean. She was the Director of the Dee J. Kelly Law Library through Summer 2008 when she resigned to devote full-time focus to law faculty duties in Fall 2008.
Professor Phillips’s scholarship has focused on legal research with her legal research exercises book being used in law school and library school programs throughout the country. In addition to teaching the Legal Research Practicum course, she has taught in the Legal Research, Analysis, and Writing program. Currently, Professor Phillips’s teaching interests include Criminal Procedure and Title IX: Women, Athletics, and the Law.
Professor Phillips earned her B.A. in history from the University of Dallas, and her J.D. and M.S.L.S. from The Catholic University of America. Professor Phillips has been an active member of the Southwestern Association of Law Libraries, serving as president, 2004 – 2005, and on the Executive Board, April 2003 – April 2007. She currently serves on the Board of Advisors for the School of Library & Information Science, University of North Texas.
