Chief Justice Joe Greenhill Memorabilia Preview

Chief Justice Joe R. Greenhill, Sr. and his family donated many of the chief justice’s personal papers and memorabilia to the Texas Wesleyan School of Law Dee J. Kelly Law Library to establish an archive for the use of researchers interested in Texas judicial issues and history.  The Judge Joe R. Greenhill, Sr. Papers at the Dee J. Kelly Law Library contains bound volumes, notes, correspondence, photographs, memorabilia, and other materials documenting his career and life.  Visitors are invited to the Law Library's Reading Room to see a preview of the collection as well as drawings of the future Special Collections Room.

Expanded Coverage -- LexisNexis Congressional

The Law Library’s subscription to LexisNexis Congressional has expanded to include PDFs of compiled legislative histories (1969-present), bound Congressional Record and its predecessors (1789-date), daily Congressional Record (1985-present),  House & Senate Reports (1817-present), House & Senate Documents (1817-present), Committee Prints (1830-present), Congressional hearings (1824-present), Congressional Research Service Reports (1916-present), and the Serial Set (1789-present).  Coverage updated October 2009.

 

New Databases

Cabell's Directories of Publishing Opportunities
This Directory assists you in selecting those journals that are most likely to publish your manuscript. The index in each Directory helps you match the characteristics of your manuscript to the topic areas the journal emphasizes, the type of review process, acceptance rate and number of internal and external reviewers. Added October 2009.

Merck Index
An encyclopedia of chemicals, drugs, and biologicals that contains more than 10,000 monographs. Each monograph in this authoritative reference source is a concise description of a single substance or a small group of closely related compounds. Added October 2009.

Pro Quest Dissertations and Theses is now available to all Texas Wesleyan University users.  It is the world's most comprehensive collection of dissertations and theses and the official digital dissertations archive for the Library of Congress.  Added August 21, 2009.

RefWorks
An online research management, writing and collaboration tool -- is designed to help researchers easily gather, manage, store and share all types of information, as well as generate citations and bibliographies. Added October 2009.

Taxation & Economic Reform in America: A Historical Archive 1781-2009 is now available to all Texas Wesleyan University users. This 225-year archive contains more than 900 volumes and nearly one-million pages of legislative history materials and other documents. This library includes the complete Carlton Fox Collection, which contains nearly 48 years of historical legislation related to the internal revenue laws from 1909-1950. It also includes current legislative histories related to taxation and U.S. economic reform.   Added September 1, 2009.


New Faces in the Library

Laura Fargo joined the library faculty on June 8, 2009 as Public Services Librarian.  Laura graduated in May from a joint J.D./M.L.S. program at Florida State University and was an intern at the FSU College of Law Research Center from August 2008-May 2009.

Michelle Rigual was appointed Director of the Law Library and Associate Professor of Law at Texas Wesleyan School of Law, effective July 31, 2009.  She was previously the Associate Director and Associate Professor of Law Librarianship at the University of New Mexico School of Law Library.
