Networking is an important part of a lawyer's career.  Making contacts within the legal community can assist with obtaining an internship or permanent position, as well as future client referrals.  In addition, law students and new attorneys receive the benefits of mentorship and advice from attorneys who are farther along in their careers.

Area bar associations provide excellent opportunities for students and alumni to meet attorneys, participate in community service projects, and gain knowledge about various practice areas and the local legal communities.  Discounted student memberships are often available.  For more information on local bar associations, see the following links:
